The Reconstructed Burial Mound

The Burial Mound

At the Time of its discovery the burial mound had been completely worn away except
for a slight elevation of the ground. After its reconstruction in 1987 it today measures
60 m (200 ft) in diameter, 6 m (20 ft) tall and its volume of 7000 m3 (9200 cu yd) of earth
and 280 t of stone is once again in imposing landmark. The hill is easy to get to and is half
a kilometer (0,3 mi) from the museum.

We thank the photographer Dieter Kik for the panorama shot of the burial chamber.
